Helping clients move forward positively with a greater understanding of themselves

A counselling relationship is often very different from many other relationships that we encounter

Counselling can be a useful way of exploring your feelings and emotions safely and with the help of someone who is trained to help you move through difficult or uncomfortable feelings without judgement and with empathy. You may find that through addressing your experiences you are able to move forwards positively and with a greater understanding of yourself and your patterns/process.

Experience & Qualifications

Emotional Support

I have experience of providing emotional support to women, and young people aged 15-25, helping to improve their mental health and well-being. I have experience of working with issues surrounding self-esteem, confidence, anxiety and depression. Having previously worked in the voluntary sector with The Samaritans, and more recently with ex-offenders and their families, I also have experience of supporting those who experience suicidal thoughts and those who are struggling within their relationships.

Proven Techniques

I adopt a Person-Centred approach and strongly believe that we are all capable of growth and change. I am also trained in the use of Guided Imagery and the Rewind Technique, which can be an effective treatment for those with phobias or those who have experienced traumatic events.

Affiliated Professional

I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work to their code of ethics. I also have enhanced criminal records bureau disclosures and hold a full level of insurance to cover my work.

Phobias

Many of us have fears about particular objects or situations which is perfectly normal. I work with the Rewind Technique to help reduce unwanted feelings associated with phobias and their triggers.

Trauma

Traumatic events can lead to us developing panic attacks and other physiological responses. I use the Rewind Technique, combined with talking therapy, to help reduce these responses.

Talking Therapy

Having a safe place to share our thoughts and feelings can lead to positive change and growth. I can help you to explore difficult situations, work through unwanted thoughts and develop more positive behaviours.
